my STORY

don't worry, it's short

Hi, I'm Andrew. I’m an award-winning artist specialising in 2D animation, illustration and digital design. With more than 20 years' experience in character animation, motion design and visual storytelling, the novelty of bringing my imagination to life still hasn't worn off.

If you're the traditional sort, you can download a copy of my CV.  For the whippersnappers, perhaps check me out on LinkedIn.  Or why not keep reading, as I go into quite a lot of my background right here.

Over the years I've had the opportunity to work across digital, games, broadcast, e-learning and branded content for organisations including LEGO, HSBC, Barclays, BBC, Disney Interactive / Black Rock Studios, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Channel 4, to name a few! Whether I'm creating expressive character animation, developing a visual style from scratch or leading a team through production, I love solving creative problems and making ideas come alive.

Most recently I've been leading the animation team at Mediazoo, combining hands-on creative work with team leadership, project scoping, production planning and stakeholder collaboration. Alongside delivering animation for global brands, I've helped shape award-winning productions, including True Financial Crime: Human Trafficking for HSBC, which received two Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in 2025 (Gold Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility category and a Silver Award in the Informational Films and Explanatory Videos category)

Before that I led the creative team at 55Pixels (formerly Bin Weevils), where I was responsible for the artistic direction of one of the UK's most successful children's online games. During my time as Art Director, Bin Weevils won four consecutive BAFTA Awards in the Best Children's Website category (2011 – 2014).

Although I've spent much of my career leading teams and creative direction, I'm happiest when I'm still animating. There's something incredibly satisfying about turning static artwork into characters with personality, humour and emotion. After all these years, animating is every bit as rewarding as it was when I first started.

When I'm not knee-deep in After Effects, you'll usually find me drinking more coffee than is probably sensible, disappearing down obscure YouTube rabbit holes, entertaining my wonderfully chaotic toddler, or watching questionable zombie films that definitely aren't winning any awards...

And finally, for what it's worth, here at andrewalder.com, I am Andrew Alder not Andre Walder. I'm not sure who Andre is, but I imagine he's a fine fellow too.
